LoRaWAN – A Practical Example
Want to optimize your business? Discover through our practical example how LoRaWAN can help you.

Does data transmission actually work all the way down to the deep basements of the district in Ludwigsburg? Can a company be independent of mobile network providers when it comes to the Internet of Things? What new business models does LoRaWAN enable in consulting and optimizing energy costs?

These and many other questions were asked by KARMA GmbH, a company of the WOLFF & MÜLLER Group, at the beginning of the project. After a short project duration and a test run over several weeks, the decision-makers were convinced: With just one redundantly designed Gateway, the entire Bleyle Quarter could be networked deep into the buildings. Even from the 2nd basement, data from gas and water meters has been reliably transmitted for months. This saves the previously necessary personnel deployment and allows analyses at a much higher data density. Thanks to great enthusiasm, several buildings were equipped with easy-to-install, battery-powered room sensors in the second step. These capture the brightness, humidity, temperature, and CO2 levels of a room. This allows KARMA to determine the comfort factor in the buildings managed for customers. For the technical implementation of the project, the hardware and software products developed by SmartMakers were used. Few customer-specific adjustments were necessary. The strong integration of the LoRaWAN adapters with the software solution developed for this purpose allowed flexible implementation of the requirements. New sensors can be added by the customer independently. Both the visualization and the data export are extensively customizable by KARMA GmbH.
